November Gardening Tips

As we reach Winter the Autumn is fading away the nights are getting darker and there are many jobs to do in the garden.

  • Sow Salad leaves, Mustard, Spinach, Early Peas, and Pea shoots.
  • Plant Onion Sets and Shallot bulbs.
  • Plant Tulips and other spring bulbs.
  • Plant Amaryllis bulbs ( we have a good selection of bulbs in gift boxes)
  • Plant Heathers, Ivies, and Pansies into containers for winter colour.
  • Prune Climbing Roses.
  • Bubbleglaze greenhouses.
  • Fleece tender plants.
  • Raise pots to stop water logging in the winter. (We have a good selection of pot feet)
  • Clean patios to prevent slipping over in the winter.
  • Rake up all leaves and add to compost bins for leaf mould next year.
  • Check leeks for moth caterpillars.
  • Net crops to stop pigeons destroying all your hard work of planting.
  • Don’t forget to feed the birds (good selection of bird feeding stations and wooden bird tables now in stock)
